I knew that this one was going to be a bit darker and I knew there was going to be revenge involved. I love a good story where someone has been wronged but they find a way to get back in the end and I have a feeling this series is going to be that for me. But this book was just the start.
This book in one sentence: Boy, this is actually a series that I have a NEED to keep up with!
So in a nutshell, Sela Halstead was sixteen when she was assaulted. That’s something that has never escaped her mind, but now that she’s in her mid twenties, she’s a grad student and is living her life as best as she can. One day while watching TV she catches an interview that is advertising a new website that links older rich men (sugar daddies) with young, good-looking women (sugar babies). The interview is between a reporter and one of the owners of the company, Jonathan Townsend, JT, who is actually one of her rapists. Terrible memories and emotions flood her and after she composes herself, she decided that she is going to make JT pay for what he did, even if that means her landing in jail.
Sela poses as a sugar baby meets TJ once more to try to set her plan in action but she also meets Beckett North and that changes a lot of things.
The relationship between Sela and Beck was interesting from the jump. They both wanted their first encounter to be their only encounter but it turned out to be more for both of them. Before Beck, when Sela was with other men she was always disconnected and she only did anything for the gratification of getting someone else off. Beck was used to having one night stands with sugar babies who threw themselves at him and there was no connections involved either. When Sela and Beck got together their first night, it was something different for the both of them and that’s sort of where things started.
They started spending more time together and it was interesting because this was something that was new for the both of them. They had to learn a lot about each other and eventually started to figure each other out. Everything was dandy, until one day that it wasn’t and that’s where the story ended. The description of the book told me this would end on a cliffhanger, but I didn’t think the cliffhanger would be as BAD as it was.
I enjoyed reading this one and I loved the relationship that developed between them. This book went alot faster than I would have liked and I’m dying to read the next one because I need to know how everything works out!
